Garage Doors and Living Rooms: A Match Made in Heaven

Posted by Overhead Door of Sioux City and Yankton | May 31, 2017 11:38:03 AM

Feta cheese and watermelon. Peanut butter and green apple slices. Iowa Hawkeyes and a national championship title.

The above may seem like unlikely pairings, but they actually go quite well together (especially those Hawks…one of these days). We’re seeing another unlikely pair crop up in our industry that we are starting to get pretty excited about: garage doors and living rooms.

We know it’s a little modern and unconventional, but as garage doors become increasingly attractive and energy efficient, more and more homeowners are opting to use garage doors as moving wall panels for their living spaces.

Give the concrete jungle a warm welcome.

This home, which pairs a honed concrete floor with soft, leather seating embraces fresh air as well as its urban setting. The retaining walls offer privacy while also offering a clean backdrop to the young landscaping, which will only get better with time.

See both sides.

Why stop at one door when you could have two in a corner? These glass and aluminum garage doors are stunning whether they are up or down, letting in as much of the view as possible.

Let the sunshine in. Along with all of your friends.

Nothing says, “Come in and make yourself at home” than a wide door welcome. Guests step right up and get in on the action, mingling inside and outside without too much interruption.

Name your size.

Garage doors don’t have to be huge to give all the perks. Even a small garage door is bigger than most standard doors, and it is twice as versatile.

Now it’s your turn to weigh in. Would you put a garage door in YOUR living room?
