Pantone seeks to relieve stress and increase mindfulness for the modern consumer with its selection of not one, but two, colors for the Pantone 2016 Color of the Year. Rose Quartz and Serenity are said to "psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security" and their unique blending "demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing warm tone and a cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace."
At least, that's how Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, put it.
Most of the population sees the colors as baby pink and baby blue. Which may or may not be soothing.
