A Garage Door For Your Shed? No Problem.

A Garage Door For Your Shed? No Problem.

Choosing a garage door for a shed or a freestanding garage is just like choosing one for your home; you want it to operate well, look nice, and give you access to everything you need inside. However garage doors for sheds are a little different in that they sometimes have limitations on size, power, or styles, and they must be determined before proceeding.

Size up.

On most sheds and freestanding garages, you'll want the largest door possible so that you aren't limited on what you can store based on what fits through the only opening. Vehicles, boats, lawn mowers, and more should be taken into consideration when you build your structure--or when you are retrofitting its entrance.

Power up.

Depending on their location and use, some sheds and freestanding garages do not have a power supply, which means you're forced to decide if you need to run one to the building, or invest in a garage door with manual operation (in other words, your muscles). Luckily, Overhead Door offers several strong, but lightweight doors that are easy to lift and operate, with spring-release functions that aid in the lifting without working against you on the way down.

If your shed doesn't have electricity, the other note to consider is adding windows to your garage door as a natural source of light.

Style up.

Just because a building has a small chorus line role doesn't mean it can't have great stage presence. The beauty of Overhead Door of Sioux City's full line of rolling doors and garage doors means you can either match your shed garage door to your home, or let it be something completely different, in a vast array of colors, and a style all its own. As long as the function is what it needs to be, the form can be what you want--so blend it in, stand it out, and make it beautiful.

We can help with that.
